Green Spirit Home Performance was founded in 2024 with one clear mission: to make home energy upgrades easier for Twin Cities homeowners.
We saw a gap in the market, with too many companies focused on individual services (just HVAC, just insulation, just electrical) without considering how those systems work together. Green Spirit was created to change that. We bring a whole-home, future-focused approach to energy efficiency, helping Minnesotans take control of the comfort, health, affordability, and environmental impact of their houses.
Why “Green Spirit”?
The name Green Spirit was inspired by research into air-source heat pumps in Northern Europe, one of the world’s leading regions in home energy innovation. The “Green” reflects our commitment to sustainability. The “Spirit” speaks to our personal, values-driven approach: we guide each homeowner with care, integrity, and deep expertise.
Our logo, a horned owl, symbolizes what we aim to bring to every project: wisdom, knowledge, and a clear-eyed view of your home’s needs. Owls see the whole picture, and so do we.
Who We Are
Green Spirit was founded by Nick Bender, a trusted expert in the home energy space with decades of hands-on and strategic experience in installation, project management, and more. Over the years, he has built a reputation with both local homeowners and industry partners as a deeply knowledgeable home performance expert uniquely capable of holistically designing and overseeing complex, multi-trade retrofits, especially for older homes.
